Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 5   TSC 101 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Medications on the Sterile Field

Captions available

The idea

Medications and solutions used during surgery are often placed on the sterile field, where the scrub person is responsible for them.

In practice

The scrub person receives them, labels every container and passes them to the surgeon; the circulating nurse documents each one.

Where people slip

A medication on the field is still a medication: the same safety rules apply as at any bedside.
