Sponsor StudyWalks

Professor Rex, the StudyWalks fox

Sponsorship pays for the whole catalog rather than any part of it, and there is no ad network in between. StudyWalks is free to everyone who uses it — this is what pays for that.

Why sponsorship matters

StudyWalks is free, ad-free and account-free, and it is built for people earning credit by examination, many of them because traditional coursework costs more than they can spend. As of October 2026 nothing on it sits behind a paywall. Sponsorship is a large part of what keeps it that way for everyone.

Who sponsorship is for

  • Local businesses that want their name on something useful
  • Nonprofits, foundations and community groups
  • Employers that want free, ordered training material open to their staff and to the public
  • Individuals who want to give at a sponsor level rather than as a supporter

A college or other body that grants credit for a subject cannot underwrite that subject; see the decline policy below.

What you would be supporting

Complete college subjects, taught in prerequisite order, aimed at people earning credit by examination — adult learners, career changers, service members and anyone testing out of coursework they cannot afford to sit through twice.

Every claim is drafted from a maintained open textbook and checked against an independent second source, with 27,491 declared prerequisites and a written record of every editorial decision. That record is public, and it is the reason this is worth attaching a name to. See the method.

Running the site costs about $250 a month — storage, bandwidth, the domain, and the power to render several hundred hours of video. That figure is printed here rather than held back, because a sponsor is entitled to know what the bill actually is before deciding what a level is worth. Beyond that cost, sponsorship pays for the work of building subjects — which, as of September 2026, is unpaid.

Sponsorship levels

Every level is sitewide. A sponsor funds the whole catalog rather than any one subject, which is deliberate — see below.

How your name or logo appears

Every sponsor placement renders from the same short record, so this is exactly what each level looks like. The names below are placeholders.

Underwriting a subject

Separate from the levels above, and deliberately so. Underwriting funds the making of a new subject — research, drafting, source checking, narration and rendering — and is credited afterwards with one line on that subject's page, not on its entries. It is a one-time gift rather than a standing placement, which is the only reason it can name a subject at all where an ongoing sponsorship cannot.

By arrangement. What a subject costs depends on its size, and they run from a couple of hundred entries to nearly five hundred. Everything below about independence and declined sponsorship applies here as well — and applies hardest here.

Ask about underwriting

What sponsorship does not buy

No influence over content. A sponsor does not review, approve, suggest or veto anything in an entry, and does not see one before it publishes. Nothing an entry says is negotiable, and the sourcing stays as auditable as it is everywhere else.

No implied endorsement in either direction. A logo in the footer says a business paid to keep this free. It does not say StudyWalks recommends them, and it does not say they vouch for the material.

No student data. There are no accounts, so there is nothing to hand over. See Privacy.

Sponsorship that gets declined

Some money costs more than it pays. Sponsorship is turned down from:

  • Anyone with a material interest in what a subject asserts. A clinical employer and the evidence-based practice subject, a device maker and the biology subject, a staffing firm and medical terminology. The overlap that makes a sponsor keen is the overlap that disqualifies them.
  • Any institution granting credit for a subject it would underwrite. That combination could discredit the material outright, whatever the truth of it.
  • Anyone asking for review, approval, or advance sight of an entry — or for a subject to be written a particular way.

This is published rather than merely practised, because a record that can be audited is the product here. An underwriter with a stake in a conclusion would spoil the thing they were paying for.

Tax status, plainly

StudyWalks is not a registered charity, and a sponsorship is not a tax-deductible charitable contribution. Depending on your circumstances it may be deductible as an ordinary advertising or marketing expense — that is a question for your accountant, not for this page. If the status changes, this page will say so and will say when.
