Where the money goes
Running this site costs about $250 a month — storage and bandwidth for the video library, the domain, the build pipeline, and the power to render several hundred hours of video. That is the whole of the bill, and it is printed here because you are being asked to help pay it.
Anything above that cost pays for the work itself: researching, drafting, source-checking and narrating a subject, then checking it again before it ships. As of September 2026 that work is unpaid.
StudyWalks carries no advertising. It ran ads on its index pages until September 2026, and entry pages never carried them at all. What pays for the site instead is on this page.

$5 Friend
Fifty supporters at this level cover the site's entire running cost. That is the whole of it — fifty people.

$15 Contributor
Seventeen supporters at this level cover the running cost outright. Recurring support is also what makes it possible to plan a new subject rather than react month to month.

$50 Patron
A fifth of the monthly bill on its own. Past the running cost, support goes into researching and building new subjects.

Once, instead
A single gift helps as much, and there is nothing to cancel later. $25 or more earns the Contributor badge, $100 the Patron badge, and any smaller gift the Friend badge.
What supporting does not buy
No early access, no members-only subject, and nothing removed from anyone else's experience. The badge is a thank-you, not a key to anything. Everything on this site is already free to everybody, and that does not change in either direction.
It also buys no influence over what the entries say. Corrections are made because they are correct, and the reasoning is written down in the amendment log either way.
Tax status, plainly
StudyWalks is not a registered charity, and your contribution is not tax-deductible. It is a private educational site run by one person. If that changes, this page will say so and will say when.
Other ways that help
- Tell someone. Most people studying for a credit-by-exam never hear that free, ordered material exists.
- Report a mistake. If an entry is wrong, say which number and what it should say — see Contact. A correction is worth more than five dollars.
