Rewriting Without Changing Meaning
The idea
Rewriting, which the method lists as simple text transformation, changes tone, length or reading level while the meaning has to stay exactly the same.
In practice
Step one: state the transformation precisely: plain language at a general reading level, or half the length, or a warmer tone. Step two: state what must not change: facts, figures, obligations, deadlines and any defined terms. Step three: ask the model to list every change it made that could affect meaning, however small. Step four: compare the rewrite against the original, sentence by sentence, checking every fact, figure and obligation before the rewrite replaces the original.
Where people slip
The danger in rewriting is softened obligations. A must that becomes a should has changed the rule while sounding the same.
