Adding the Edge Case
The idea
The edge case is the most valuable scenario in the method's pattern, because it shows where the rules strain, and it needs its own check.
In practice
Step one: name the kind of edge you want: a boundary value, a missing field, a conflict between two rules, or an unusual sequence. Step two: ask the model to explain which rule the edge case tests. Step three: check that the situation could happen under your policy as written. Step four: ask a person who handles real cases whether they have seen something like it, and how it was resolved.
Where people slip
Generated edge cases are often either too ordinary to test anything or too unlikely to matter. The check with a practitioner is what makes one useful.
