The idea
A surgical needle has three parts: the point, the body and the swage, where the suture is attached.
In practice
Needles are described by their curve, their length, the diameter of the wire and the style of their point.
Where people slip
The needle holder grips the body, never the swage, because gripping the swage can loosen the suture.
