The M-CaReM-AI Method: Defining Work for AI / Unit 4 MCM 090 worked example, 60 to 90 seconds
Mining Documents With AI
The idea
The method uses AI to speed up the search for nouns in long documents, with the same grounding rules taught in Generative AI at Work, lessons seventy-six to seventy-eight.
In practice
Step one: choose the documents, such as a policy manual, an old specification, or the text of current forms. Step two: ask the tool to list the business things the text describes, each with a one-sentence description, using only what the text supports. Step three: ask it to list anything uncertain as a question rather than an answer. Step four: review the list yourself. Merge obvious duplicates such as Incident and Incident Report, or keep both and decide later. Step five: flag ambiguous words such as case, file and record for the next workshop.
Where people slip
The tool finds nouns quickly, but only people can say which ones are real things in this organization, and which are words a document happened to use.
