The M-CaReM-AI Method: Defining Work for AI / Unit 4 MCM 094 worked example, 60 to 90 seconds
Running the Mapping Workshop
The idea
The book's mapping workshop runs ninety to one hundred twenty minutes with a small group of five to ten people.
In practice
Step one: explain the purpose: we are drawing what our world is made of, not designing the system. Step two: brainstorm things, every noun on a note, without filtering. Step three: cluster the notes and name the zones that emerge. Step four: place things in zones and settle obvious duplicates. Step five: draw and label the key relationships. Step six: pick the core things and ask whether the map looks like the group's world. Step seven: explain what happens next, and invite later additions. Throughout, steer away from screens and process steps, park disagreements, use people's own words, and photograph the board.
Where people slip
When two groups disagree about what a Case is, note it and move on. That disagreement is a finding for later phases, not a failure of the workshop.
