The Case: Cards

The idea

The case's phase two picks one anchor thing, the Incident Report, and drafts its cards with AI and three people's corrections.

In practice

Step one: the analyst drafts the create card with AI help, from the thing's definition, the old system's fields and the hospital's policy. Step two: the charge nurse corrects the harm levels to the hospital's own scale: no harm, mild, moderate, severe and death. Step three: the quality manager adds a rule for flagging suspected malpractice. Step four: the data architect makes the created date, time and user permanent metadata. Step five: the team writes the other critical cards, including view, search, update, change status, generate the regulatory file and log changes.

Where people slip

The change-status card was the book's small revelation. Rules once spread across a specification, a diagram and an old email thread now lived on one card.
