Building a Matrix: Data to AI
The idea
The remaining rows need other people, and the book names who to ask for each.
In practice
Step one, data and integration: ask data and technical staff which tables hold the thing, which interfaces create or read it, and which downstream jobs, warehouse tables or model pipelines use it. Step two, screens: list where it is created, edited and viewed, including supervisor and auditor screens. Step three, reports: list the operational, management and compliance reports that use it. Step four, testing: ask testers which suites cover it and which tests depend on its fields. Step five, operations: ask operations and training staff which procedures, job aids and courses refer to it. Step six, AI: list any models, drafting tools or prompts that use it.
Where people slip
Each row has an owner who knows things the analyst does not. Building the matrix is a series of short conversations, not a solo task.
