The M-CaReM-AI Method: Defining Work for AI / Unit 8 MCM 194 worked example, 60 to 90 seconds
Scenario: AI in a High-Risk Area
The idea
The book's third scenario uses a matrix before introducing an AI assistant that drafts incident reports from clinicians' voice notes. Generative AI at Work, lesson two hundred eighteen, practices the same case.
In practice
Step one: open the Incident Report's matrix. Step two: identify the critical fields, especially those that matter for compliance. Step three: find the policies that limit what may be filled in automatically. Step four: find the test suites that must grow to cover AI-drafted reports, and the procedures for reviewing AI-generated content. Step five: from those, decide where AI may help, such as drafting the description and suggesting categories, and where human review is mandatory, such as harm level and regulatory flags. Step six: plan the tests and monitoring that will show the AI's effect.
Where people slip
The book calls traceability a safety net for AI adoption, because it shows in advance which parts of a high-risk thing the tool must never decide.
