The Change-Impact Walk
The idea
The method's change-impact walk is the routine a team runs for every proposed change to a thing with a matrix.
In practice
Step one: name the things the change touches, from their Packs. Step two: for each, open its matrix. Step three: walk the rows in order and ask the same question of each: which cards are affected, which tables and relationships must change, which interfaces need updating or versioning, which screens and reports depend on the changed fields or rules, which tests must change, which procedures and training must change, and which AI prompts, models or automations assume the old behavior. Step four: record each yes as a task in the change plan. Step five: if no row is affected, check the matrix before believing it.
Where people slip
The walk is deliberately repetitive. Its value is that the same questions are asked every time, by whoever is on duty.
