Droplet Precautions
Captions available
The idea
Droplet precautions are used for germs carried in large respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing or talking.
In practice
Influenza, coronavirus and pertussis are examples; staff wear a mask, plus goggles or a face shield when indicated.
Where people slip
Large droplets fall within a short distance, so close contact carries the greatest risk.
