Educational Psychology / Unit 2 EDP 0112 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Reliable but Not Valid

The idea
Validity is whether scores represent the variable a test intends to measure; a valid measure must be reliable, but a reliable measure need not be valid.
In practice
A clock set ten minutes fast is perfectly consistent and consistently wrong.
Where people slip
Consistency is not accuracy. A math test full of hard reading can be reliable yet measure reading as much as math.
