Three Kinds of Reliability
Captions available
The idea
Reliability is consistency, checked three ways: test-retest reliability over time, internal consistency across a test's items, and interrater reliability across the people scoring it.
In practice
Two teachers grade the same essays and give nearly the same scores: high interrater reliability.
Where people slip
Each kind answers a different question, so a test can be stable over time yet have items that disagree.
