What a Sentence Needs
Captions available
The idea
A complete sentence needs a subject and a predicate, and it must be able to stand alone.
In practice
The subject names something; the predicate contains the verb, which expresses an action, an occurrence or a state of being.
Where people slip
Length does not make a sentence complete; a long string of words without a working verb is still not a sentence.
