Every course here is written against a named anchor text — one standard work whose terminology and topic boundaries the course follows — and checked against a secondary witness written independently of it. Where the two disagree, the course follows the anchor and says so at the entry where the disagreement lands. These are the texts for College Composition.

Anchor

OpenStax, Rice University. Writing Guide with Handbook.

Witness

Excelsior University Online Writing Lab (Excelsior OWL): grammar, writing process, research, citation (MLA, APA, Chicago) and argument pages.

Naming the anchor is not a claim of endorsement by its publisher, and the course is not affiliated with any of the works above. Openly licensed texts carry their licence beside them; the rest are cited, not reproduced.
