Adjectives and Adverbs

The idea
Adjectives describe nouns, and adverbs describe verbs, adjectives or other adverbs.
In practice
In "The careful editor worked quickly," careful describes the editor, and quickly describes how the editor worked.
Where people slip
Readers draw most meaning from subjects and verbs, so piling up adjectives and adverbs weakens a sentence rather than strengthening it.
