Building a Matrix: Pack and Rows

Captions available

The idea

The book builds a first matrix for the Eligibility Determination, and the first two steps come from work already done.

In practice

Step one: start from the thing's Pack, which already holds its definition, properties, lifecycle, card index, relationships and, for a Gold thing, its policy references. Step two: choose the rows. Use the standard set, drop any that do not apply, and add others, such as external partners, if the thing crosses organizational lines. Step three: write the thing's name, the matrix owner and the date at the top. Step four: decide where the matrix lives, next to the Pack, so that anyone who opens one can find the other.

Where people slip

Starting from the Pack is what keeps the matrix centered on the thing. A matrix started from a document list becomes another document map.
