Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 3 TSC 063 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Arteries, Veins, Capillaries
Captions available
The idea
Arteries carry blood away from the heart, veins carry it back, and capillaries between them are where exchange happens.
In practice
Arteries branch into arterioles and then tiny capillaries, where nutrients and wastes are exchanged; capillaries drain into venules, then veins.
Where people slip
Blood leaving a cut artery is under higher pressure than blood from a vein, so arterial bleeding is usually more forceful.
