Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 3   TSC 062 short lesson, about 20 seconds

The Rectus Sheath and the Linea Alba

Captions available

The idea

The rectus sheath is a sheet of connective tissue covering each rectus abdominis muscle, and the linea alba is the midline where the abdominal muscles attach.

In practice

The two oblique muscles and the transversus abdominis attach to the linea alba, and both rectus muscles lie beside it.

Where people slip

These connective layers, not the muscle bellies alone, give the abdominal wall much of its structure.
