Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 3   TSC 068 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Imaging the Surgeon May Use

Captions available

The idea

Four imaging methods matter most in surgery: X-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound.

In practice

X-rays use ionizing radiation for flat images; computed tomography combines X-rays into cross sections; magnetic resonance uses magnetic fields and radio waves; ultrasound uses sound waves.

Where people slip

X-ray and computed tomography expose people to radiation, a hazard covered in unit eight.
