Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 18 TSC 443 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Securing Drapes and Cords
Captions available
The idea
Cords and tubing on the field are secured so they stay in place without damaging the drapes or creating a hazard.
In practice
Penetrating towel clamps are not used to attach cords or tubing to drapes, because they puncture the drapes and can damage electrical cables; cords are never coiled around metal instruments.
Where people slip
Facilities supply non-penetrating holders for this; use what your facility provides.
