A Drape Below the Table

The idea
Any part of a drape that hangs below the level of the table top is considered contaminated.
In practice
Sterile items are kept away from the drape's lower edge, and nothing that drops below the table level is lifted back up.
Where people slip
If a sterile item slips over the edge, it is treated as contaminated and replaced.
