Pooling and Drying
Captions available
The idea
Alcohol-based prep solutions must not pool on or under the patient, because pooled solution stays flammable longer.
In practice
Pooling near the dispersive pad is also avoided, and solution-soaked drapes or towels are removed before the sterile drapes go on.
Where people slip
Drying is complete only when the skin is dry and the fumes have dispersed.
