Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 17 TSC 408 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Drying the Hands
Captions available
The idea
After a soap scrub, hands and arms are dried with a sterile towel; after an alcohol rub, they air-dry completely.
In practice
The sterile towel is often provided with the gown pack, and the hands and arms are dried before the gown is lifted.
Where people slip
Wet hands can soak through a gown or glove and carry bacteria with them.
