Ribbon and Malleable

The idea
Ribbon or malleable retractors are flat blades that can be bent to fit the space where they are needed.
In practice
They hold back and protect organs and bowel, especially in the abdomen, and are often used to protect the intestines during abdominal closure.
Where people slip
Once bent, the blade keeps its shape, so straighten or reshape it as the surgeon directs.
