The Operating Table

The idea
The operating table is adjustable so the patient can be placed in many surgical positions.
In practice
The tabletop tilts head down or head up, raises and lowers, rotates, and can be flexed or split for positions such as jackknife and kidney.
Where people slip
Its adjustments are checked before the patient arrives, because a table that will not move as needed cannot hold the position safely.
