Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 6   TSC 134 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Drying and Wet Packs

Captions available

The idea

A wet pack is a package that still has moisture inside it after the sterilization cycle ends.

In practice

Heavy metal mass in a set is a known cause, along with the density of the wrap and the design of the set.

Where people slip

Moisture carries microbes from the air and surfaces, so a sterile item that becomes wet is considered contaminated.
