Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 6   TSC 138 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Peracetic Acid Systems

Captions available

The idea

Automated peracetic acid systems are a low-temperature liquid process used mainly for immersible items such as endoscopes.

In practice

A sterilant is diluted, circulated and pumped through the device's channels, then rinsed off; items are used straight away, with no sterile storage.

Where people slip

The sterilant must reach every channel, so the correct connector for each device is essential.
