Routes of Administration
Captions available
The idea
The route of a drug is the way it is given, and the same drug can behave differently by different routes.
In practice
Routes include oral, intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, inhaled and topical; in surgery, local anesthetic is often injected into tissue by the surgeon.
Where people slip
A drug prepared for one route must never be given by another.
