Tracing Light to the Visual Cortex

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Tracing vision means following light from cornea to lens to retina to optic nerve to thalamus to occipital cortex, naming each conversion.

Show

One photon path worked through in full: refraction at the cornea, focus by the lens, inversion on the retina, transduction by cones, convergence on the optic nerve, the crossing at the chiasm, the relay through the thalamus, and arrival at the occipital lobe. Each step named, including where the image stops being an image.
