Opponent-Process Theory

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Opponent-process theory holds that color is encoded in opposing pairs — red against green, blue against yellow, black against white.

Show

Staring at a red shape and looking away produces a green afterimage of the same shape.

Watch for

Opponent-process and trichromatic theories are not rivals. They describe different stages of the same pathway.
