The fovea is the small central region of the retina packed with cones, where visual acuity is highest.

Only the few words at the center of gaze are sharp; the rest of the line is markedly blurrier.
Watch for
The sharp visual field is far smaller than it feels. Eye movements build the impression of a detailed scene.
