The Blind Spot

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

The blind spot is the region of the retina where the optic nerve exits and no receptors are present.

Show

With one eye closed, a small mark at a certain position vanishes entirely from the visual field.

Watch for

The gap is not perceived as a hole. The visual system fills it with surrounding pattern.
