The idea
Nerve tissue has two main cell types: neurons, which carry impulses, and neuroglia, which support and protect them.
In practice
A neuron has a cell body, dendrites that receive signals, and a single axon that sends them; neuroglia far outnumber neurons.
Where people slip
Neurons do not divide, so a destroyed neuron cannot be replaced.
