The idea
The whisper test is a simple, quick screen for hearing that needs no equipment.
In practice
Standing behind the seated patient, whisper a few words and ask the patient to repeat them back.
Where people slip
Record how many of the whispered words the patient repeated correctly, and report any difficulty to the provider.
