Medical Assistant Prep / Unit 13 MAS 321 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Weighing a Patient in a Wheelchair
Captions available
The idea
A patient who cannot stand can be weighed in their wheelchair on a wheelchair scale.
In practice
Weigh the empty chair, or use its recorded weight; then weigh the patient seated in it with the brakes on; subtract the chair's weight from the total.
Where people slip
Use the same chair each time, because chairs differ in weight.
