The idea
The metric system is used for documenting and calculating medications, and its prefixes step by multiples of ten.
In practice
Kilo means one thousand, centi one hundredth, milli one thousandth; a gram is one thousand milligrams, a milligram one thousand micrograms, a liter one thousand milliliters.
Where people slip
One kilogram equals about two point two pounds, a conversion used constantly with weights.
