AI Without Anchors
The idea
The method names a failure it calls AI without anchors: AI features that create or change important data or decisions without reference to the records and definitions they touch. It also gives a recovery path.
In practice
Step one: name the objects the AI feature touches, every record, status and document it can create or change. Step two: update the reference documents for those objects so they describe what the AI does to them. Step three: document what the AI reads and what it writes. Step four: put the feature through the gate, with a clear boundary between what it suggests and what the system decides.
Where people slip
The failure usually starts small: a helpful feature added without the gate, then extended. Recovery is easier the earlier it starts, which is why the method asks for the gate before features are built.
