Steps of the Citric Acid Cycle

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

The citric acid cycle carries a two-carbon acetyl group through eight steps of oxidation, releasing two carbon dioxide molecules and harvesting electrons and one ATP-equivalent molecule per turn.

Watch for

The citric acid cycle produces very little ATP directly — its real yield is the electron carriers NADH and FADH2, spent in the pathway that follows.
