The idea
A recombinant protein is the product of a recombinant DNA molecule once its host cell transcribes and translates the inserted gene.
In practice
A bacterium carrying a plasmid with an inserted human gene transcribes and translates it alongside its own genes, producing the human protein.
Where people slip
Inserting a gene into a plasmid supplies only the sequence — expression still needs the host's own translation machinery.
