The idea
Cellular cloning is the natural production of genetically identical cell populations, as when a unicellular organism replicates asexually by binary fission.
In practice
A bacterium dividing by binary fission produces two daughter cells with the same DNA sequence as the original cell.
Where people slip
Cellular cloning describes single cells reproducing identical copies of themselves — reproducing a whole multicellular organism is a separate process.
