Captions available
The idea
Berlin lay inside the Soviet zone, but the city was cut into four sectors: American, British and French in the west, Soviet in the east. Stalin blockaded West Berlin from June nineteen forty-eight. Planes supplied it for nearly a year; in May forty-nine he gave up.
In practice
Three western flags, one Soviet: Cold War Berlin.
