The idea
Power passed to the United States and the Soviet Union, and Europe was divided between them, both halves in ruins. The Marshall Plan of nineteen forty-eight lent enormous sums for rebuilding; Stalin barred his sphere and extracted wealth from it instead. The West boomed within a decade.
