The Lost ARC / Unit 4 ARC 112 worked example, 60 to 90 seconds
Specific and Attributed
The idea
The book's practice for recognition has two requirements, specificity and attribution, because attention is the currency of prestige and naming is how attention shows.
In practice
Step one: replace generic praise with the specific act, as in "The way you restructured that analysis saved the client relationship." Step two: say why it mattered, connecting the work to an outcome the person cares about. Step three: attribute in public, naming the individual in meetings and in reports to senior leadership rather than folding them into "the team." Step four: make sure someone with authority hears it, within a day if you can, because visibility travels upward or not at all.
Where people slip
The book is blunt about the alternative: a leader who presents a team's work without naming who produced it is not being humble, but committing an act of erasure, and the people erased notice even when they say nothing.
