Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 4   TSC 086 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Ureters, Bladder, Urethra

Captions available

The idea

Urine travels from each kidney down a ureter to the urinary bladder, and leaves the body through the urethra.

In practice

The kidneys and ureters lie entirely behind the peritoneum; the bladder has a peritoneal covering only over its top, called the dome.

Where people slip

Each ureter is a thin tube about a foot long, running down the back of the abdomen behind the peritoneum.
