The idea
Patients with implanted electronic devices, such as pacemakers and implanted defibrillators, are at higher risk from electrosurgery.
In practice
Electrosurgical current can interfere with these devices, so the team identifies them beforehand and plans with the anesthesia provider; pads are not placed over metal implants.

An implanted device mentioned at the time out changes the energy plan.
