The idea
Many teams add a short briefing before the day's cases and a debriefing after each case to share plans and lessons.
In practice
At the end of a case, the surgeon, anesthesia provider and nurse review key concerns for recovery, and equipment problems are recorded so they can be fixed.
Where people slip
Lessons that are not shared are lessons that have to be learned again.
