Warming Devices Used Safely

The idea
Warming devices help keep the patient's temperature normal during surgery and are set up before or at the start of the case.
In practice
Forced-air, water-circulating and radiant devices are used as directed, along with warmed fluids, and the circulating nurse records the warming measures used.
Where people slip
Follow each device's instructions exactly, because a sedated patient cannot report discomfort.
